Wightlink is your link to the Isle of Wight through our three convenient ferry routes. We’ve been carrying people across the Solent for over 160 years now and things have changed a lot in that time. Bigger ferries, more passengers, quicker crossing times – the list goes on.
But some things remain the same, not least our dedication to providing the best service possible and our passion for the Isle of Wight. That’s why we have more ferries on more routes running more often than any other cross-Solent service and that’s why we love what we do.
Our Portsmouth – Fishbourne route is easily accessible via the motorway and can get you to the Island in 45 minutes. Our Lymington – Yarmouth route takes you from the heart of the New Forest to the picturesque west Wight on our most scenic 40-minute crossing. If you’re not planning on taking the car, our FastCat service from Portsmouth Harbour Train Station can get you to Ryde Pier Head in just 22 minutes.
Whatever route you choose, you can expect comfortable crossings and catering for every need. All our ferries have spacious lounges and outdoor sun decks so you can relax and take in the stunning views as you cross the Solent. You can also get something hot to eat at each of our ports and on board every car ferry, with Isle of Wight-sourced food and drink at our Wight Taste stores and a huge selection of hot drinks and snacks at our Costa Coffee outlets. And if you’ve got accessible travel needs, such as needing a wheelchair or some extra space to get out of your car, we’re on hand to help you out.
We’re leading the way for a greener future. The introduction of our hybrid energy flagship ferry, Victoria of Wight, to our fleet has brought in a new, greener era of ferry travel between the Isle of Wight and the mainland. She’s the first hybrid energy ferry in England and she uses 17% less fuel than the next largest ship in our fleet, St Clare. But that’s not all. Our ambitious green agenda sees us tackling plastic waste, providing and maintaining marine habitats in our ports, reducing food miles and much, much more.
We’re proud to serve the Isle of Wight and love everything about the Island. That’s why we support loads of local sports teams, athletes, arts organisations, charities, good causes and events with discounted travel. They’re part of Island life, and so are we. We like to think we’re Island experts, too, so we built a great explorer tool for finding places to stay and things to do on the Island. And we put together Wightlife Magazine four times a year, your ultimate Isle of Wight guide, which is full of inspiration and the latest Island news.
