Little railway, BIG adventures! At the home of the Kirklees Light Railway. It’s all aboard at Clayton West Station where you can enjoy a fun double loop on the ride-on-miniature train before jumping on the big train for a 25 minute journey through the Yorkshire countryside to Shelley Station (*Please check their calendar in advance).
Swing, jump and slide through the day on the outdoor adventure playgrounds at both ends of the line and bounce to your heart’s content on their new undercover jumping pillow come rain or shine.
Stop to refuel in The Firebox at Clayton West Station or enjoy waffles, brownies, pancakes and scoops of ice cream with all the toppings at The Turntable dessert parlour at Shelley Station.

Day Out With Thomas
Peep! Peep! Thomas the Tank Engine is coming to town for a limited time and fans will be able to hop on board at Day Out With Thomas events at Whistlestop Valley!
Day Out With Thomas highlights include:
A return steam train ride from Clayton West to Shelley (please note this will NOT be Thomas unless it is the 10am service)

Hop aboard Whistlestop Valley’s Easter Eggspress for a cracking time with Funcast Character Company’s wonderful Wonderland characters! Everything is included in your ticket price except food, drinks, items from the shop & the miniature funfair rides (payable to the owner operators).
The Easter Eggspress is running on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th & Monday 18th April 2022.
Dinosaur Ranger Adventure
Ever wanted to meet a dinosaur?
Or, be taught the skills needed to be a Dinosaur Ranger by real-life Jurassic experts?!
Well, now's your chance as Whistlestop Valley joins forces with their palaeontologist pals from Funcast Character Company.
At Clayton West Station there will be: 25 minute ranger school, outdoor playground, covered jumping pillow and rides on The Clayton Flyer miniature railway.
At Shelley Station there will be: Tram platform rides, outdoor playground, Dinosaur art/craft activities (subject to COVID restrictions), mini treasure hunt and opportunity to meet & greet two dinky dinos.
The event will take place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 2022.
Whistlestop Valley is usually open to the public on weekends, Bank Holidays and local school holidays, with special toddler/pre-schooler days on selected term-time Mondays and Fridays, and special events throughout the year.
